Concrete Removal in Northern Colorado
Driveways, sidewalks, patios, slabs, footings โ we break it up, haul it out, and leave you with clean dirt ready for whatever comes next.
Concrete doesn’t last forever. Cracks spread, slabs settle, tree roots push up walkways, and old patios become eyesores. When it’s time to go, Fort Collins Junk Removal and Demo has the equipment and crew to handle the full job โ from initial breaking to final haul-off.
We remove concrete for homeowners, contractors, property managers, and commercial property owners across all of Northern Colorado. Whether it’s a small sidewalk section or a full driveway tear-out, we quote flat-rate pricing with no hourly surprises and handle everything from first strike to final sweep.
Since 2015, we’ve removed hundreds of concrete slabs, patios, driveways, and foundations in the Fort Collins area. Our crew uses skid steers, jackhammers, and concrete saws to break up even the thickest pours cleanly and efficiently.
What We Remove
Driveway Removal
Full or partial driveway tear-out. We break up the concrete, load it into our trucks, and haul it to a recycling facility. Includes subgrade grading so your new driveway contractor has a clean surface to work with.
Sidewalk & Walkway Removal
Cracked, heaved, or trip-hazard sidewalks removed section by section or in full. We cut clean edges at transition points so new concrete ties in flush with existing surfaces.
Patio & Slab Removal
Old concrete patios, hot tub pads, shed foundations, and random slabs removed completely. We access tight backyard areas that larger contractors can’t reach with heavy machinery.
Foundation & Footing Removal
Old garage foundations, footer walls, retaining wall bases, and structural concrete removed down to grade. Includes rebar extraction and site cleanup.
Parking Pad & Apron Removal
RV pads, extra parking slabs, and garage aprons broken up and hauled away. We coordinate with your landscaper or concrete contractor for seamless handoff.
Concrete Curb & Step Removal
Deteriorating front steps, landscape curbing, and concrete borders removed. Precision cutting around areas you want to keep โ no collateral damage to adjacent hardscape or landscaping.

๐ธ What Concrete Removal Actually Looks Like
Every concrete job is different. A standard residential driveway (two-car, ~400 sq ft) typically takes our crew 4โ6 hours from first break to final sweep. Thicker commercial slabs or reinforced foundations may take a full day or two.
We bring the right equipment for the job โ jackhammers for thin slabs and tight spaces, skid steers with breaker attachments for driveways and large pads, and concrete saws for clean cuts at transition points. All debris goes to local recycling.
Concrete Removal Questions We Hear a Lot
How much does concrete removal cost?
Most residential concrete removal in Northern Colorado runs between $3โ$8 per square foot depending on thickness, reinforcement (rebar vs. wire mesh vs. plain), access difficulty, and haul distance. A typical 400 sq ft driveway removal runs $1,500โ$2,800 all-in. Sidewalk sections and small pads are often $500โ$1,200. We give exact flat-rate quotes after seeing the job โ no ranges or “starting at” pricing.
Can you remove just part of a driveway or patio?
Yes โ partial removal is common. We use concrete saws to cut clean, straight lines exactly where old meets new. This is typical when you’re extending a driveway, replacing a damaged section, or converting part of a patio to garden space. The cut edge is clean enough for new concrete to butt against.
What happens to the concrete after removal?
All concrete we remove goes to a local recycling facility where it’s crushed and reused as road base or aggregate. Rebar is separated and recycled as scrap metal. Nothing goes to landfill. We handle all hauling and disposal โ it’s included in your quote.
How thick of concrete can you remove?
We regularly remove concrete from 4 inches (standard sidewalks and patios) up to 12+ inches (commercial slabs, foundations, and footings). Thicker pours take longer and may require heavier equipment, but we’ve never met a residential or light-commercial slab we couldn’t handle. We’ll assess thickness during your free estimate.
Do I need a permit for concrete removal?
In most Northern Colorado cities, removing concrete on your own property doesn’t require a permit. However, if the concrete is in the public right-of-way (city sidewalk, curb) or if you’re replacing it with new concrete, a permit may be required. We’ll let you know during the estimate if permits apply to your specific situation.
Will concrete removal damage my lawn or landscaping?
We take precautions โ plywood paths for equipment, careful loading to avoid scattering debris, and clean edges along adjacent landscaping. Some minor turf damage along edges is common and fills in quickly. For tight-access jobs (narrow side yards, gated backyards), we use smaller equipment that minimizes ground disturbance.
How long does concrete removal take?
A single sidewalk section or small pad: 2โ3 hours. A full driveway (two-car): 4โ6 hours. Large patios or thick commercial slabs: 1โ2 days. We’ll give you a timeline estimate with your quote. Most residential jobs are completed in a single day.
